FPS 15 and dropping
« on: September 03, 2008, 07:04:17 pm »
I read in a few forums that the latest versions of Pitbull and DogTags was crushing framerate in raids. Last night in a 25 man raid I was getting 12 to 15 FPS even with spell effects turned off.

What unit frame mods are you guys using, what kind of frame rate are you seeing, and what sort of hardware?

I am debating blowing away my UI and WTF folders and starting over. A nice clean, fresh slate might fix things.

That is all.

Ok, so that was six words.  No, wait, twelve.  No, fif...ah fuck it.

As per our discussion last night, I use Pitbull (always up to date) and my game actually runs BETTER than it does with the blizzard UI.  It's probably a combination of Pitbull with some other addon(s).

Sidenote:  I have 161 addon folders not counting the Blizzard ones......WTF

I ran with Xperl unit frames for a bit, then moved to Pitbull. I installed Xperl last night and tweaked it a bit. I wasn't in the mood to mess with it too much as I was too busy being angry about my smashed Macbook Pro.

I turned off the party display while in a raid - I think that was also crushing my DPS with the raid since I had Pitbull showing spell casts, heals, and everything else. It was like tailing 24 log files - wonderfully fascinating, but I think crushing the system.

Right now I am getting ~40 to 46 FPS in Shattrath. I'll have to see how it looks elsewhere.

Honestly for 25 man raids, I have most of pitbull's display elements off.  But then again, I only have 1 GB RAM and a Go5600 128mb... For party and 10 man raids, I have absolutely no problems turning everything on though.  I also have a few custom dog tags set up for range and what-not.

Currently using PitBull (not latest). Party is turned off in raids. Also, a lot of other stuff is off that is unneeded when using Grid and/or just flashy.
