I started playing Elder Scrolls: Oblivion because I needed Something to fill my fantasy RPG fix. Also been trying The Witcher (it's okay but very linear) and trying to finish the first Dragon Age.  I agree with Tony that I like the single person RPG over trying to manage multiple characters.
There is a group of Guild Wars players at my new job who call it the un-WoW.  It sounds absurdly simple, and less detailed than WoW.  Though I do admit the PvP and 'always instanced' outdoor areas sound intriguing.

I dunno if GW is still like it was way back when I tried it, but you couldn't solo passed like...level 7 or so.  You NEEDED a group, which was annoying as fuck.  I hope they re-tuned that shit.

Ugh. That would be a dealbreaker.  Though since I'm at work, I asked one of the douchebags that play it, and they tell me that now you can make a party of NPC's that you control (kinda kills the single character thing I talked about) - or, and I have to admit that I find this interesting; you can make a party of your other characters.  At first glance that sounds great, but what if I'm a beginner with just one toon?  I think the answer may be that there is no replacement for WoW... Dammit.

You can always try Rift.  It's basically WoW with better graphics, from what I hear. :)

Have to look into it I guess, though if it is TOO much like WoW - grind to get x so you can grind to get y so you can... Rinse Repeat.  I'm right back where I started...

I really hope Diablo 3 goes back to the old style of multiplayer.  Otherwise I'll just have to gouge out my eyes. Or take up cocaine.

I wonder how Warhammer is doing....

In all seriousness, HDL is kinda done as a raiding guild right now. We've lost too many people to RL and desire to keep raiding. So if you want to come back just to torment the Alliance like we used to.... ;)

Waiting on Warhammer 40k MMO and the Star Wars one; also Battlefield 3.

The problem is, most MMOs will follow the same grindy philosophy in order to keep people behind their keyboards and logging in.  Some games might have less, but it will always be there because it's a tried and true method for keeping people's butts in their chairs playing.  You won't be able to find an MMO without some aspect of it.
